The Atlassian Server Sunset Is Final — Your Migration Playbook

With Server fully end-of-support, unpatched instances are a live compliance risk. Data Center and Cloud are the only supported destinations, and neither maps 1:1 to your old perpetual licenses.

Treat it as a right-sizing event

Server estates accumulate dormant users and apps. Before you quote Data Center tiers (which step up in large user bands), reconcile active users against your license count.

Data Center vs Cloud

Data Center suits strict data-residency and heavy customisation; Cloud reduces operational overhead but re-prices per user. Model both over three years, including Marketplace app repurchasing — often the hidden majority of the bill.

Whatever you choose, do not renew Server 'temporarily'. There is no supported temporary.
